SYRIA: 13 YEARS OF CONFLICT TAKES TOLL ON CHILDREN
Millions of Syrian children continue to face displacement, lack of education, and ongoing violence.
Thirteen years of conflict in Syria have created one of the worst humanitarian crises of our time. A generation of children has known nothing but war, displacement, and loss.
A Lost Generation
More than 6 million children inside Syria need humanitarian assistance. Many have been born into conflict and have never known peace. They face:
- Displacement - many have been forced to flee their homes multiple times
- No access to education - schools have been destroyed or are unsafe
- Child labor and exploitation - families desperate for income
- Psychological trauma from witnessing violence
- Malnutrition due to food insecurity
The Earthquake Aftermath
To make matters worse, a devastating earthquake struck northern Syria in early 2023, destroying more homes and infrastructure. Communities that were already struggling have been pushed to the brink.
Our Response
Save the Children has been working in Syria since the conflict began. We continue to provide:
- Emergency cash assistance to vulnerable families
- Educational programs and school supplies
- Psychosocial support for traumatized children
- Health and nutrition services
- Winter assistance to keep families warm
Hope for the Future
Despite the challenges, there is hope. With proper support, Syrian children can recover and build a better future. Education is particularly important - it provides not only learning but also a sense of normalcy and hope.
